Luckan Integration, i samarbete med den estniska organisationen MISA (Integration and Migration Foundation Our People) genomför för tillfället projektet CROSS “Cross-border cooperation on mentoring and peer support for immigrants”. Projektet har tre målsättningar: att stöda personer från Estland som bor i Finland, att erbjuda vägledning för arbetslösa ester som är permanent bosatta i Finland, samt att erbjuda mångfaldshantering/utbildning till finländska och estniska organisationer som är redo att anställa personer med internationell
bakgrund.
I början av projektet har en undersökning gjorts för att kartlägga behoven hos ester som bor i Finland. Det huvudsakliga syftet var att upptäcka de största utmaningarna som nyanlända ester står inför och att identifiera vilka stödtjänster som behövs. Enligt undersökningen är det största behovet att hitta organisationer som erbjuder stöd och vägledning kring specifika frågor såsom arbetssökning och studiemöjligheter.
Med denna information, utvecklar Luckan Integration för tillfället innehåll för kamratstödsgrupper och mentorverksamhet med ester bosatta i Finland som målgrupp. Denna verksamhet startar i början av år 2017. Samtidigt exporterar Luckan Integration sin FIKA
mentoreringsmodell till den estniska samarbetsorganisationen MISA.
FIKA är Luckan Integrations framgångsrika mentorprogram där frivilliga ställer upp som mentorer åt invandrare för att underlätta samhällsintegrationen. Cooperation project between Finland and Estonia has started successfully Luckan Integration, in cooperation with Estonian organization MISA (Integration and Foundation Our People) is currently implementing the project CROSS “Cross-border cooperation on mentoring and peer support for immigrants”. The project has three main aims: to support people from Estonia living in Finland, to offer guidance to unemployed permanent residents of Estonia, and to provide diversity management insights to Finnish and Estonian organizations that are ready to hire personnel with international background.
During the first phase of the project, a survey was conducted to map the needs of Estonians living in Finland. The main focus was on discovering the main challenges faced by Estonian newcomers, as well as identifying what kind of support activities would be required the most, in order to facilitate integration. According to the survey, the biggest needs of the Estonian population living in Finland would be to find organizations that offer support and guidance in specific matters such as job hunting or studying opportunities.
With this knowledge, Luckan Integration is currently developing the content of three peer support groups, as well as mentoring activities, aimed at Estonians living in Finland. These activities will start in the beginning of 2017. At the same time, Luckan Integration has shared the FIKA mentoring model with the Estonian partner MISA. FIKA has been a successful mentoring program ran by Luckan Integration in the Helsinki region, where volunteers act as mentors to ease the integration process of immigrants.
