Tunisia – North Africa’s stepping stone to democracy?

Svensk Ungdoms (SU) International Committee is hosting a seminar with a following panel discussion on the topic, Tunisia – North Africa´s stepping stone to democracy.

The seminar is part of DEMO-Finland´s ”Tools for Democracy” -program for their Tunisian delegation, who is on a study visit to Finland. We are extremely happy to welcome the Tunisian delegetion, consisting of students from the Tunisian School of Politics, to our seminar and to give their view and update on the political situation in Tunisia under the panel discussion.

Opening words by SU:s International Committee
Constitutional progress and democratization in Tunisia – in the light of the Venice Commission and the OSCE report.
Mrs. Elisabeth Nauclér, MP and member of the Parliaments Women´s Network
Gender equality – the importance of including men and women equally in the constitutional construction.
Ms. Pirkko Mäkinen, Ombudsman for Equality
Panel discussion on constitutional progress, gender equality and the current political situation in Tunisia, thus in what way the EU can assist in Tunisia´s democratization process.
